Overview

CRA-W/CDC is proud to sponsor the 2017 AAAI Diversity Workshop via the Discipline Specific Workshop program. The goal of the workshop is to discuss issues facing members of underrepresented groups in AI, with emphasis on cases studies and best practices to change the situation at all levels, from K-12 to college level and in the workforce.

Topics

  • studies on the causes of under-representation and how to address them;
  • case studies and best practices to increase diversity of students;
  • case studies and best practices to increase diversity in the work force (academia, industry, government, research labs).

The workshop will include:

  • an invited speaker;
  • a collection of presentations selected from peer-reviewed submissions;
  • a panel;
  • and small group discussions.

Anyone interested in addressing diversity in AI is invited to attend.

A limited number of scholarships from CRA-W/CDC are available for students from underrepresented groups who are US citizens/permanent residents.

Call for Submissions

We invite the submission of regular papers (maximum 6 pages + 1 page of references) and summaries of proposed presentations (maximum 3 pages).
Submissions describing best practices and case studies, and those contributing courses of action for concrete solutions are particularly welcome.

Accepted papers will be presented during the workshop and will be published as a AAAI technical report, which will be freely available in AAAI’s digital library.

November 18: Notification of acceptance
December 8: Camera-ready copy due to AAAI
February 4-5: AAAI-17 Workshop Program

Format

AAAI two-column format is required for workshop submissions, and will be required for all final accepted submissions. The AAAI Press author kit with style files, macros, and guidelines for this format is located at www.aaai.org/Publications/Templates/AuthorKit17.zip (Do not use earlier versions of aaai.sty). Submissions are not anonymous.
